F.C. Arad (Hebrew: מועדון כדורגל ערד), Moadon Kaduregel Arad, lit. Football Club Arad (or in short Hebrew: מ.כ. ערד, Mem Kaf Arad, lit. F.C. Arad) was an Israeli football club based in Arad. The club last played in the Liga Gimel South division.
History
The club was founded in 2012, with the purpose of building a new club, which is based on local players from Arad. F.C. Arad joined Liga Gimel South division and played their first match on 28 September 2012, where they were beaten 1–2 by F.C. Rishon LeZion.
After finished their first season at the bottom of their division, and the following season as second bottom, the club's activity was ceased at the summer of 2014, due to financial problems and lack of support from the municipality of Arad. However, after local rivals, Hapoel Arad, were dissolved during the 2014–15 season, and a new mayor was elected in Arad, the club was re-established at the summer of 2015, supported by the municipality.
O clube foi fundado por um grupo de moradores de Arad apaixonados pelo futebol. Inicialmente, jogava em ligas amadoras locais, mas rapidamente subiu na hierarquia do futebol israelense. Em 1977, foi promovido para a Liga Bet, a segunda divisão, e em 1980, para a Liga Alef, a primeira divisão.
O FC Arad permaneceu na primeira divisão por quatro temporadas, antes de ser rebaixado para a Liga Bet em 1984. O clube então passou por um período de declínio, caindo para a Liga Gimel, a quarta divisão, em 1990. No entanto, conseguiu retornar à Liga Bet em 1993 e, em 2002, foi promovido novamente para a Liga Alef.
O FC Arad permaneceu na Liga Alef até 2006, quando foi rebaixado para a Liga Bet. O clube então voltou à Liga Alef em 2010, mas foi rebaixado novamente em 2014. Desde então, o FC Arad joga na Liga Bet.
O FC Arad nunca conquistou um grande título, mas chegou à final da Copa do Estado de Israel em 1984, perdendo para o Maccabi Haifa por 2 a 0. O clube também participou de várias edições da Copa de Israel, mas nunca passou da terceira rodada.
O FC Arad é um clube pequeno, mas tem uma base de fãs apaixonada. O clube joga seus jogos em casa no estádio Arad, com capacidade para 5.000 pessoas.
