Maluku Utara United Football Club (simply known as Malut United) is an Indonesian football club based in Ternate, North Maluku. The club currently plays in Liga 2.
History
On 30 January 2023, mining tycoon David Glenn has successfully taken over Liga 2 club Putra Delta Sidoarjo with the ownership of the club being transferred to the newly-founded PT. Malut Maju Sejahtera and David's mining company PT. Mineral Trobos Group. David then relocated the club to the town of Sofifi in North Maluku with the aims of improving football within a region known for producing talented players but lacking any teams in the top two tiers of Indonesian football, renaming the club as Maluku Utara United in the process.
To prepare for the Indonesian 2023–24 Liga 2 season, Malut United signed a total of 13 players, most of whom were natives of North Maluku, as well as enlisting Imran Nahumarury as their inaugural head coach. The team will play their home games at the Gelora Kie Raha Stadium in Ternate whilst planning to build their own stadium in Sofifi.
O Malut United FC é o único clube da província de Maluku do Norte que disputa uma divisão nacional do futebol indonésio. O clube também é conhecido por seu apoio apaixonado dos torcedores, que são conhecidos como "Hiu Matalulu" (Tubarão Matalulu).
O Malut United FC manda seus jogos no Estádio Gelora Kie Raha, que tem capacidade para 15.000 espectadores. O estádio foi construído em 2014 e é um dos mais modernos da Indonésia.
O Malut United FC tem como objetivo subir para a Liga 1, a primeira divisão do futebol indonésio, e representar a província de Maluku do Norte no cenário nacional do futebol. O clube também tem como objetivo desenvolver o futebol na província e formar jogadores talentosos que possam representar a seleção indonésia no futuro.
